Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort’s new DVC tower site plan unveiled

This past March, Disney announced plans for a new Disney Vacation Club (DVC) tower at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort. The new tower would be located over a large swath of landscaped trees and gardens, as well as the Luau Cove – home to “The Spirit of Aloha” dinner show.

Disney has been busy preparing the site as the Luau Cove has already been torn down. Earlier this spring, DVC News reported that site plans for the new DVC Tower at the Polynesian Village Resort have been filed. The new tower, which is projected to open in late 2024, is expected to be around 9 or 10 stories high. According to the plans, there will also be a new pool and water activity pool located between the Tuvalo, Aotearoa, and Fiji longhouses.

“The plan adds about 120 new parking spaces but no bus stops or monorail station,” states DVC News writer Tim Krasniewski. “The presence of a drive-thru Porte Cochere and 6 parking spaces nearby–likely for temporary unloading–suggests the building will have its own front desk. We previously estimated the building [will] … hold about 200-250 villas.”

According to the site plans, there will be a new outdoor parking lot, DVC News estimates 120 new spots, that are next to Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa’s parking lot. There will be no bus stop or monorail station located at the new DVC tower, however, DVC News states, “The presence of a drive-thru Porte Cochere and [six] parking spaces nearby [are] likely for temporary unloading [of guests, therefore suggesting] the building will have its own front desk.

“It’s no secret that our Members and Guests love the monorail resorts at Walt Disney World,” said Bill Diercksen, senior vice president and general manager of Disney Vacation Club. “Expanding our Disney Vacation Club offerings at the Polynesian would give our Members and Guests yet another incredible option for staying close to the magic while making vacation memories that last a lifetime.”

“Inspired by the early concepts for Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, the Imagineers of today are honoring the past while furthering the resort story with this innovative addition,” read a press release announcing the project. “Projected to open in late 2024, the proposed vacation ownership property would complement the existing resort and evoke the spirit of the Pacific Islands.

Situated on the shores of Seven Seas Lagoon, the proposed property would join the rest of the resort in offering stunning views of the Magic Kingdom.”
