Disneyland Paris permanently closes “Buffalo Bill’s Wild West Show” and “Moteurs … Action! Stunt Show Spectacular”

Prior to Disneyland Paris closed last month due to a spike in COVID-19 cases throughout France, the park had been open since mid-July. However, live stage show, as in virtually all other counties, did not return. It is not surprising considering social distancing, as well as cast, crew, and guest safety have proven to be difficult. Even live stage shows on Broadway will not return until May 2021 – at the earliest.

On Friday, October 30, Twitter user @RichyDisney posted that “Buffalo Bill’s Wild West Show” at Disney Village may never return. Richy said the information was based on an internal memo that went out to Cast Members. He also stated that there will be a meeting with Disney and the CSSCT (The Health, Safety and Working Conditions Commission) on November 16 to determine the fate of this show and also “the fate of puppeteering shows and Moteurs Action officially.” At the time Disney had not made any official announcement on the status of these shows.

Yesterday, it was confirmed that “Buffalo Bill’s Wild West Show” and Moterus … Action! Stunt Show Spectacular” will indeed close permanently. According to Twitter user @ED92Magic, “Sad news tonight as Disneyland Paris unions confirm the permanent closure of Buffalo Bill’s Wild West Show and Moteur…Action! Stunt Show Spectacular.”

“Buffalo Bill’s Wild West Show” is still listed on the Disneyland Paris website, however “Moteurs … Action!” has been removed.

Opening day of the Walt Disney Studios theme park at Disneyland Paris/Disney

“Buffalo Bill’s Wild West Show” opened in 1992 when the Disneyland Paris theme park opened. Ten years later, when the Walt Disney Studios theme park opened, “Motors … Action! Stunt Spectacular” opened with that park.

Today Twitter user @DLPReport reported that the horses will be relocated to a historical theme park, “Le Puy du Fou,” in the Pays de la Loire region of Western France, as well as at local equestrian associations working with children. At this time it is unclear what will happen to the buffalo and other live animals used in the show. Disney has yet to say what will become of the venue.

There is also no news what will be replacing the “Motors … Action! Stunt Spectacular” show, however the land could easily be used to create a new area in the future.

It appears that affected Cast Members will be reassigned throughout the resort. Last month Daniel Delcourt, Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Disneyland Paris, sent out an email to Cast Members informing them of the upcoming meeting and fate of these shows. In the email he stated, “As we continue to develop and invest in the visitor experience across our destination, we plan to take a similar approach to the redeployment of affected Cast Members. We will share more details with you as soon as possible.”
