Disneyland Paris’s Disneyland Hotel begins extensive refurbishment

This past April, the Disneyland Paris resort announced the Disneyland Hotel, their flagship resort, will undergo an extensive renovation in the next couple of months. After months of preparations, work has now begun on the 514 room resort.

The Disneyland Hotel will retain the Victorian architecture of the resort, but this will be the first Disney hotel that will celebrate a royal theme. “The Disneyland Hotel will be infused with a royal theme and become the true kingdom of many favorite Disney Princesses and Princes, from classics like ‘Beauty and the Beast,’ ‘Cinderella,’ and ‘Sleeping Beauty,’ but also recent hits ‘Frozen’ and ‘Tangled,’ says Disney. “Guest public areas will be reimagined to pay homage to these beloved films and their characters, while all hotel rooms and suites will be entirely rethemed to offer the most immersive experience. Expect refined, creative décor and magical touches that will surprise the whole family, as only Disney can do.”

Disney stated in preparation for the work ahead, the hotel was emptied of its furniture. Many of the pieces were made available to cast members. In addition, more than 1,500 furniture pieces were donated to three organizations supporting local communities.

As with many of their refurbishments of hotels around the globe, this renovation will infuse more Disney franchises and storytelling into the resort. Disney says that these changes enhance “the guest experience through innovation and a commitment to excellence.” Although most guests enjoy being completely immersed in Disney characters, some guests wish that the resorts kept their unique themes without looking childish. Some on social media said that the resorts were the only place where they could “escape Disney” while others said they wanted the resorts to “look like the theme they were supposed to convey and not like a child’s room.”

“All hotel areas will be upgraded and redesigned to offer enhanced accommodations with upgraded technologies, from online check-in to in-room connectivity,” stated Disney. “There will also be expansions to the boutique and fitness areas, featuring an extended pool, spa, and gym. For young guests, the Princess for a Day experience will return with a reimagined comeback providing an even more royal experience. The culinary offering will be improved and even extend into the lobby. An additional lounge will also be created to provide hotel guests with more choice in how they spend their stay, along with tasty food and beverage offerings.

“When it reopens, Disneyland Hotel will offer to our guests an enhanced experience even more worthy of the prestigious French five-star hotel rating,” adds Tomás Feier, General Manager of the Disneyland Hotel. “We are proud to welcome a lot of repeat visitors at our iconic hotel, and we want them to be immersed in a 360-degree experience using the power of beloved Disney fairytales, with an array of brave and kind heroines as a central theme. Our loyal guests expect to be enchanted and surprised by their stay each time they visit us, and we take pride in delivering impeccable service to create memorable moments. A full Disneyland Paris experience can truly be achieved only when staying in one of our themed hotels, and we cannot wait to welcome guests to the Disneyland Hotel after its transformation.”

The hotel’s exterior will retain its charming Victorian lines and continue to blend harmoniously into the world of Disneyland Paris’ Main Street, U.S.A. with the facades, roofs, and woodwork to be completely refurbished, as well as the hotel’s parking area and a new entry sequence.”

At this time, there is no announced reopening date for the resort.
