Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover to reopen this weekend

After more than a year of being closed – four months of that due to the entire resort closed because of the coronavirus pandemic – the Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover is schedule to reopen this weekend.

On his Instagram page, Jeff Vahle, President, Walt Disney World Resort stated, “On a recent trip to Magic Kingdom, I stopped by to check in with the Engineering team overseeing the refurbishment of the Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover, previously called the “WEDway PeopleMover” when I first rode it as a teenager. Thrilled that this team has it ready to delight a new generation when it reopens later this weekend!”

Although the PeopleMover is opening up a week ahead of schedule, it is months behind its previously announced dates. The attraction went down in the beginning of March 2020 and failed to reopen with the Magic Kingdom last July. At the time it was reported the TTA was undergoing an extensive refurbishment of its linear induction motors, as well as structural possible roofing work. Initially it was to reopen on 31 October then it was pushed back at least five times after that and then finally around the end of April.
