Rock ‘N’ Roller Coaster at Disney’s Hollywood Studios remains closed, Magic Kingdom’s PeopleMover return delayed

UPDATE: The TTA will remain closed through the month of January. Disney has updated their website to reflect the new change. As of today, the TTA is not expected to return to service until Sunday, January 31.

The new year always marks new beginnings and that is true for some attractions at Walt Disney World, however for very different reasons.

Ever since the stroke of midnight as 2020 turned into 2021, the Rock ‘N’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith at Disney’s Hollywood Studios continues to be shuttered to guests. The attraction is listed as “temporarily closed” on the My Disney Experience app. According to Cast Members the attraction is experiencing “technical difficulties.” At this time, the attraction was not expected to undergo any scheduled refurbishment and it is not listed to do so on the Disney World website.

According to Mike at Blogmickey.com, Cast Members do not have any idea when the attraction would reopen.

Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover has been out of commission for ten months now. The Tomorrowland attraction has been down since the beginning of March 2020. When the Magic Kingdom reopened last July the attraction did not return with the park.

At that time it was unclear what was going on with the attraction. Shortly after it was reported that the TTA was undergoing an extensive refurbishment of its linear induction motors, as well as structural possible roofing work. Initially it was to reopen on October 31. Then Disney pushed the date to the end of December and then to the beginning of this month. The last date reported for a reopening was January 10. It seems that date may still be correct. At this time the attraction is listed as under refurbishment on January 9, but is off the list as of January 10.
