Recently, Walt Disney World Ambassadors surprised some of the Cast Members who have been selected to be part of the opening team for the TRON Lightcycle / Run attraction. Click here to see the event.

The attraction, which will open in spring 2023, is in Tomorrowland at the Magic Kingdom. In 2017, at the D23 Expo, The Walt Disney Company announced that a second TRON Lightcycle/Run attraction would open in fall 2021 at the Walt Disney World Resort, as part of the park’s 50th Anniversary. Currently, Shanghai Disneyland is the only theme park with this attraction Little did they anticipate a global pandemic three years later would derail those plans and more.

It was unclear if the attraction would open on time or even sometime during the 50th celebration. Then in December 2021, D23 posted a story about every moment they were looking forward to in 2022. Given that the TRON attraction was left off that list, many Disney bloggers speculated that it would not be until 2023 when fans would be able to ride this highly anticipated attraction.

As work quickened, it was assumed the attraction would have a winter 2022 opening date, however, Disney officially announced it would open to guests next year.
