Transforming the Magic Kingdom into Halloween is a Trick and a Treat

Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party has returned to the Magic Kingdom. As opposed to last year’s version, which was modified due to the coronavirus pandemic, this year’s parties are back to normal.

It is important to note that dates for these parties are selling out fast. So far, all but one date in August has sold out, as well as three more in September, and, of course, Halloween night.

The party has remained relatively the same as in previous years, however, a few new changes and modifications have been made.

This year, a new lighting package has been added to Space Mountain. The popular Tomorrowland attraction now has a multi-light show. The façade now is lit in green, purple, red, blue, and hues of golden amber.

There is a new pre-parade street dance party. In the past, it was the Zootopia Party Patrol, now Disney has introduced Max Goof, Goofy’s son, to leading a 90’s themed Powerline Party Time dance party. According to BlogMickey, it should be noted that Max Goof and friends can only be seen prior to the Boo-To-You Parade and only on Main Street U.S.A. and in front of the Main Street U.S.A. Railroad Station on Town Square.

This year also brings some new step-in photo-op locations in honor of Walt Disney World’s 50th Anniversary. Two of them, one themed to previous Walt Disney World attractions Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride and Monsters, Inc. are located in the former Stitch’s Great Escape attraction in Tomorrowland. At the Hub near the Tomorrowland Terrace is The Legend of Sleepy Hallow photo op and over in Adventureland, a 20,000 League Under the Sea photo location. Finally, behind the Ye Olde Christmas Shoppe in Liberty Square is a Hocus Pocus 2 step-in backdrop.

A fan favorite, Mickey’s Boo-To-You Parade has returned this year as well. However, there are some minor changes including the removal of characters from Splash Mountain (and the movie “Song of the South” that the attraction was based on). Gone are Br’er Rabbit, Br’er Bear, and Br’er Fox. No additional characters have replaced them. Last year, Disney announced they were going to retheme Splash Mountain Tiana and characters from the hit movie, “The Princess and the Frog.”

Although there were not many details that have come out on what to expect in the new attraction – those will be revealed next month at the D23 Expo in Anaheim, California. However, Disney has said that the attraction would be called Tiana’s Bayou Adventure and the attraction will open in “late 2024.”
