Shopping at the D23 Expo

The best way to navigate the D23 Expo is to download their new app, which can be found in Apple’s App Store and the Google Store. It gives Expo attendees info to any questions they may have including access to badge management, Expo News, a complete schedule, and more.

One of the more important features – for many – shopping. In conjunction with the Disneyland Resort app, the D23 Expo app will allow attendees the ability to gain access to the virtual queue for the various shopping locations, as well as utilizing merchandise mobile checkout.

Here is how guests can successfully navigate the virtual queue

Join the Virtual Queue
We’re bringing the magic of virtual queues to D23 Expo 2022 for our shopping experiences at the following locations:

  • D23 Expo Marketplace
  • D23 Expo Marketplace – 3rd Floor Limited Edition Annex
  • Mickey’s of Glendale Main Store
  • Mickey’s of Glendale Pin Store
  • Mickey’s of Glendale x D23 Expo Shop
  • Disney Studio Store Hollywood

In order to use virtual queue at D23 Expo, you will need to download the D23 Expo 2022 app and the Disneyland Resort app.

Step 1: Open the D23 Expo app and navigate to the retail location. Guests may alternatively scan a QR code using their mobile device camera located at the entrances of the locations listed above.
Step 2: Tap “Join Virtual Queue” at your retail location. Guests can request to join the D23 Expo virtual queue at 6 a.m. or 1 p.m. PT.
Step 3: You will be navigated to the Disneyland Resort app, where you will be prompted to log in if you haven’t already. Once you are logged in, select the number of guests and tap “Join Virtual Queue.” Guests may join for up to two (2) people and may only join one (1) queue at a time.
Step 4: You will see a confirmation screen with an estimated wait time. While you wait for your boarding group to be notified, enjoy other D23 Expo experiences.
Step 5: You will receive a push notification when your group is ready.

Note: There may still be a queue outside of various retail locations. Joining the virtual queue does not grant any or immediate access to the D23 Expo or any experience. Virtual queues are limited in capacity and subject to availability.

Save Time with Merchandise Mobile Checkout
Purchasing merchandise at D23 Expo 2022 just got even easier thanks to merchandise mobile checkout, available at:

  • D23 Expo Marketplace
  • D23 Expo Marketplace – 3rd Floor Limited Edition Annex
  • Mickey’s of Glendale Main Store
  • D23 Expo Shop x Mickey’s of Glendale

Merchandise mobile checkout is a convenient shopping option that allows you to scan and pay for your items using your smartphone. To use merchandise mobile checkout, attendees will need to download the official Disneyland Resort app via the App Store on iOS devices or Google Play on Android devices, then sign in or create their Disney account.

While you shop, scan the barcodes on each item as you add them to your shopping bag. After you’re finished shopping, tap “Check Out” to pay on your phone. Merchandise mobile checkout accepts Apple Pay, Credit Card, Debit Card, Disney Gift Cards, and Disney Reward Redemption Cards. After you complete your purchase, you will receive a confirmation QR code. Show this QR code and your selected items to a cast member before you exit the store. You’re all set!

Joining the virtual queue or shopping with mobile checkout does not guarantee access to the D23 Expo or any experience at D23 Expo. Guests must have valid credentials.

Sigining up for D23 Expo Panels

In the beginning, and for a number of years, Expo attendees who wanted to attend a panel – in particular the more popular ones like the Walt Disney Studios and Parks and Resort panels, would get to the Anaheim Convention Center hours before the panel began. In many cases, guests slept over the night before to be first in line for those panels.

Similar to how guests utilize the Disney Parks, Disney implimented various systems to control guest crowds and institute a sense of fairness.

This year guests now need to participate a Reservation Random Selection Process. Here are the details:

Reservation Random Selection Process for D23 Expo 2022 presented by Visa

The Reservation Random Selection Process (“Reservation RSP”) entry period for all D23 Expo 2022 event days will open on Monday, August 15, at 12 p.m. PT, and conclude Friday, August 19, at 12 p.m. PT.

Be sure to transfer any additional badges to individuals in your party by 11:59 p.m. PT on Sunday, August 14. After this time, badges will no longer be transferable. An individual can only submit one reservation entry per badge type. Example: if you purchased two Friday badges, you can only request a reservation for one badge and the other must be transferred to another person for them to request a reservation. Badge transfers will not be allowed after the reservation process has begun.

Please note: A valid, activated D23 Expo adult badge is required to check in for a reservation. Children under the age of 16 are unable to make reservations, but can accompany an adult as their designated guest. You will be able to make one reservation per time slot. If you do not arrive by the time specified prior to your reservation, your spot will be filled by standby guests.

HOW THE RESERVATION RSP WORKS
Unlike past years, the Reservation RSP is not first come first serve. You will have until 12 p.m. PT on Friday, August 19, to make your selections before the entry period closes. You can return to the page as often as you would like to review and modify your reservation selections before the entry period closes.

Reservations will be randomly distributed based on preferences and availability, and starting September 2, reservations will be assigned and then communicated to you via email if you have a confirmed selection(s).

There are four (4) categories in which to make your reservation selections. Each section will allow you to choose up to four (4) items. The more selections you make, the better your chances may be of receiving at least one reservation. For each item you select, you can choose to bring up to one (1) guest.

  • StagePass – Hall D23: Provides reservations to the confirmed sessions at Hall D23 (Note: Hall D23 Preferred Seating ticket holders will not be able to make selections for Hall D23.)
  • StagePass: Provides reservations to the confirmed sessions at Premiere Stage, Backlot Stage, Walt Disney Archives Stage, and Hyperion Stage
  • TalentPass: Provides reservations for the confirmed talent photos and signings at Talent Central
  • Show Floor Experiences: Provides reservations for the confirmed talent signings, demonstrations, presentations, and giveaways happening in booths around the Show Floor

NOTES

  • If you are picking up your badges at will call, you can still participate in the Reservation RSP with your D23 member login associated with your badge.
  • Guests under the age of 16 are unable to make reservations but can still participate in reservation as the guest of an adult with an activated D23 Expo badge.
  • The most popular offerings will have a lot of interest, so consider signing up for some of the smaller events to increase your odds of getting a confirmed reservation.
  • Guests with Hall D23 Preferred Seating will not be able to make Hall D23 selections as your badge guarantees reserved seating for ALL presentations in Hall D23.
  • For guests who do not get reservations for their preferences, standby queues will be available for most panels and experiences.
  • All reservations are subject to change or cancellation without notice.
  • If you do not arrive by the time specified in your reservation confirmation email, your place will be filled by standby Guests.
  • If you are assigned a StagePass reservation, please check for the arrival time noted in your confirmation email. If you do not arrive on time, your place may be given away to a guest from the standby queue.
