On 20 July 2022, Disneyland Paris opened the highly anticipated Avengers Assemble: Flight Force attraction at the Avengers Campus. The attraction was fitted into the former Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster attraction. However, according to OutsidEars, fans and Disney executives are disappointed in the attraction.

Although the queue has received favorable reviews, it seems the main part of the attraction is nothing more than a rollercoaster flying through the darkness with a few large video screens thrown in here and there.

“Indeed, the management of Disneyland Paris, as well as several executives of the Walt Disney Company who were able to test this new version, would have expressed their dissatisfaction with this new attraction,” reports OutsidEars. “Bob Chapek and Josh d’Amaro have been disappointed with the overall quality of the attraction. After a high-quality queue and preshow creating a high expectation for visitors, the adventure in space to fight Kree missiles would not be considered to meet Disney standards.”

This reaction comes on the heels of rave reviews for Walt Disney World’s recently opened Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind at EPCOT.

The website goes on to say that Walt Disney Imagineering and Disneyland Paris are already working on updating the attraction “in the coming months to improve the overall experience.”

“We do not yet have all the details about this version 2.0 of Avengers Assemble Flight Force,” they continue “but it seems that adding screens, improving the existing ones, and adding various effects can be part of this upgrade phase.”

OutsidEars says that the lackluster experience is due to a lack of budget. “They tell us that the management of Disneyland Paris, project owner, was alerted several months ago and would have been slow to react,” says the blog. “One of them tells us ‘that it is not time to settle your accounts anyway, but to find solutions to improve the attraction as quickly as possible”.
