Disney Character greetings returning to the U.S. this April

Today, Disney announced, as early as Monday, 18 April 2022, character greetings will be returning to the U.S. Disney Parks. Disney will start reintroducing traditional character greetings at Disneyland and Walt Disney World Resorts, as well as aboard Disney Cruise Line and at Aulani Resort in Hawaii.

Disney says that while not all locations will be available immediately, they anticipate “reopening in phases throughout the spring and early summer.” This will also include character greetings at dining experiences.

During the past two years, Disney has taken a very “gradual, intentional approach” to health and safety protocols and has been careful how and when they reintroduce shows, restaurants, attractions, resorts, live entertainment, and nighttime spectaculars into the parks, resorts, and cruise ships. Disney states that “recent trends and guidance have provided opportunities” for them to bring back more experiences.

As part of the 50th Anniversary celebration at Walt Disney World, Disney has welcomed back shows such as “Mickey’s Magical Friendship Faire” and “Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular,” along with the Disney “Festival of Fantasy” Parade and new experiences like “Disney Adventure Friends Cavalcade.” This spring, Disneyland will see the return of several beloved nighttime spectaculars, including “World of Color,” “Disneyland Forever,” “Fantasmic!” and “Main Street Electrical Parade,” celebrating its own 50th anniversary. And aboard Disney Cruise Line, fireworks at sea and Broadway-style shows have returned on every ship.
