Behind the scenes look at the Walt Disney World Railroad

Because of the TRON Lightcycle/Run construction in Tomorrowland, the Walt Disney World Railroad has been closed for the better part of the last three years. Because a portion of the attraction runs in the path of the railroad Disney decided to take advantage of this time and restore the trains and replace sections of the track.

Construction on the exterior of TRON seems to be coming to a close and most of the work will now take place inside the show building. As a new tunnel, near the attraction, and track work continue, it does not appear the trains will be back in service anytime soon, however, Disney has been giving updates on the status of the railroad and trains.

In the past, Disney has been testing the newly refurbished Walter E. Disney train engine on complete sections of the track.

Today, Disney posted a video on TikTok giving a little more information on the trains. Lou, who works on the maintenance of the railroad, talked about how he and the team maintin the trains and get them ready for service. He said, “it takes them two to three hours to bring them up to pressure.”
