This past week, Disney announced Susan Arnold would be appointed Chairman of the Board at The Walt Disney Company. She will replace Bob Iger, who will be retiring and leaving the company at the end of this month.

Previously Iger held both the CEO and Chairman of the Board position. Only two other persons held both titles: Michael Eisner and Roy O. Disney. Walt Disney, who was President of the company, also held the Chairman title – he shared it with his brother but dropped it in 1960.

Some Disney bloggers made the assumption that Bob Chapek was also in consideration for being appointed Chairman of the Board, however, no assumption was ever speculated by industry experts.
