Disney continues to introduce offerings to guests visiting the Disneyland Paris resort. Recently they announced starting 21 December “Disney Illuminations,” a nighttime firework, projection, and water spectacular will return to Disneyland Park. Starting on 10 January 2022, “Disney Stars on Parade,” a star-studded parade, will take to the streets at Disneyland. The daytime spectacular is described as a “twinkling” parade with “colorful costumes and magical music” that brings Disney stories “to life like never before.”
In addition, starting from 13 November, Disneyland Paris will kick off the holidays with “Mickey’s Dazzling Christmas Parade.” The new parade, which has been in the works for four years, will feature Mickey & Friends, Disney Princesses, Tinker Bell, and Santa Claus as they spread Christmas cheer this holiday season. The cavalcade will make a stop to turn on the Christmas Tree lights.
The giant Christmas tree, located in Town Square, will twinkle with hundreds of thousands of colorful lights. Santa Claus will appear in the park through Christmas Day.
The five floats will feature Disney characters in traditional Christmas scenes and decorations. Each float will have its own Christmas tree and the performers will be dressed in over 200 new costumes created specifically for the parade.
“This new Parade is a surprise because there is a daytime version,” said Emanuel Lenormand, Show Director at Disneyland Paris. Come nighttime this show “becomes a new show … with hundreds of thousands of lights that illuminate these floats and tell a new story.”
According to Disneyland Paris, the Town Square Christmas tree is 24 meters high or almost 79 feet tall and weighs 24 tons (48,000 pounds) with 1,000 decorative objects. Snow will fall on Main Street, U.S.A. throughout the day.
Disney Illumations is a multifaceted presentation, inspired by some of Disney‘s most successful films. The show features spectacular fireworks, video mapping projections, water fountains, fire, lasers, and one of the best soundtracks from a Disney fireworks show.
