Live entertainment and character meet-and-greets returning to Walt Disney World

As Disney shuttered virtually all live entertainment last year due to the coronavirus pandemic, some Disney bloggers reported that this was the end of shows at Disney theme parks. Some went even as far as blaming Bob Chapek, The Walt Disney Company’s CEO, for taking advantage of the pandemic to cut costs at the parks.

As Disney is slowly reintroducing nearly all the shows and live entertainment back into the various parks, none of these blogs reported that they were wrong for saying the sky is falling in.

Today Disney announced a number of shows and live entertainment will be returning to the Walt Disney World resort including Chakranadi. Chakranadi, who performs tunes on the sitar and tablas at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, will return to the park next week as well as Kora Tinga Tinga. In early November, the Tam Tam Drummers will return.

On 14 October, Yeeha Bob (Jackson) will return to the piano at Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – Riverside. Disney also says other waterfront performers will return soon to Disney’s BoardWalk Resort.

Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular at Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Over at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, the popular Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular will return to the stage on 19 December 2021.

Beginning on 7 November, Disney Movie Magic, a “cinematic nighttime experience” projection show will return to the facade of the Chinese Theatre at the end of Hollywood Boulevard. When the show returns it will include new scenes from Disney’s recent live-action release, “Mulan.” The new section was to appear last March, right before the resort closed down due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Starting next month, character meet-and-greets will return to two Walt Disney World parks. Disney announced guests will be able to meet some of their favorite characters at the Magic Kingdom and Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

Magic Kingdom

  • Disney Princesses at Princess Fairytale Hall
  • Mickey Mouse in his 50th Anniversary EARidescent outfit at Town Square Theater

Disney’s Hollywood Studios

  • Minnie Mouse at Red Carpet Dreams
  • Disney Junior Stars in the Animation Courtyard

Guests will be able to meet the characters and take photos with them, however, hugs and autographs will not be permitted at this time. As of now, the various cavalcades, motorcades, and flotillas that have been seen around the parks will still continue.
