Closures coming to the Walt Disney World Resort

Today Disney announced two new closures come to the Walt Disney World Resort – Kali River Rapids and Expedition Everest at Disney Animal Kingdom theme park.

Typically Disney closes attractions heavily themed to water like Kali River Rapids and the two water theme parks, Disney’s Blizzard Beach and Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon during the winter months when the Florida weather is not conducive to guests getting wet.

Kali River Rapids, which usually is closed for a few months starting every January, will close on 1 November 2021 for an undetermined amount of time.

Expedition Everest, one of the most popular attractions at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, is scheduled to close for a lengthy refurbishment on 4 January 2022. At this time, it is expected to reopen sometime in mid-April.

Although many fans are hoping for Disney to address the inoperable Yeti animatronic, that does not seem to be the case. At this time, the refurbishments are reportedly focused on the ride system.
