Steakhouse 71 restaurant coming to Disney’s Contemporary Resort

Steakhouse 71 restaurant coming to Disney’s Contemporary Resort

This past June, The Wave … of American Flavors restaurant closed to guests to undergo a major refurbishment. At the time it was unclear what type of restaurant would replace it.

Today, Disney announced on Twitter that The Wave will be transformed into Steakhouse 71. “We’re cooking up new experiences at Disney’s Contemporary Resort for ‘The World’s Most Magical Celebration!’,” read the tweet. “Steakhouse 71 will be a casual dining concept that gets its name from the resort’s opening year.”

Although Disney has yet to release any additional information including the decor and menu, it seems that it will be less formal than its former sister restaurant, Steakhouse 55, which recently closed at the Disneyland Hotel.

Since Disney says Steakhouse 71’s name comes from the resort’s opening year, it can be assumed that the restaurant will have historical photos of the Contemporary under construction, as well as early construction photos of Walt Disney World.

In the past, some Disney bloggers were insistent that the restaurant was going to be transformed into an Incredibles steakhouse based on the Pixar movie of the same name. At this time, the only Incredibles theming the Contemporary Resort is seeing it to its guests’ rooms.
