First Look at Trapped Safari Scene at Walt Disney World’s Jungle Cruise Attraction

Work continues on the updates to both Walt Disney World and Disneyland’s Jungle Cruise attraction. The attraction is currently receiving an update to the story, as well as some attraction scenes are being changed to make them more culturally appropriate.

Overnight, at Walt Disney World, the “Trapped Safari” scene received its update with the five explorers installed on the pole. According to the Disney Imagineering Instagram page, “We just wanted to POINT out the exciting progress Imagineering teams made last night on the #JungleCruise enhancements at @WaltDisneyWorld Resort! Starting today, Magic Kingdom Park guests aboard the attraction can meet our trapped safari of new characters, including Felix Penchman XIII, the Skipper who led this expedition up a tree!”

Although both theme parks are receiving their updates at the same time, the Magic Kingdom’s attraction has remained open to guests as the refurbishment goes on overnight. Disneyland’s version has remained closed since the park reopened on 30 April. Their updated version will reopen on 16 July to guests.

Earlier this morning some bloggers (and park visitors on social media) reported the Jungle Cruise did not open on time with the Magic Kingdom. They immediately jumped to all sorts of conclusions when it was the Imagineers finishing up some work with the attraction.

Disney has yet to give a definitive date when the Magic Kingdom’s version will reopen except to say it will be “completed sometime this summer.”
