Disney Drive-In returns to the Rose Bowl for Emmy campaign season

In advance of the Emmy Awards being given out this September, this week starts the campaign season. Thursday, 13 May all submissions are due into the Academy. Then the For-Your-Consideration season begins until the end of June when the nominations are announced the following month.

According to Deadline reporter, Pete Hammond, Disney will once again host their FYC From Your Car: Disney Drive-In Service from the Rose Bowl parking lot in Pasadena, California. The screenings, panels (at least five will be live), and dinners will run from 25 May – 16 June 2021.

In response to the coronavirus pandemic, which was nearing its height last year, Disney hosted the first From Your Car for the last Emmy season and received a tremendous response from Television Academy members.

Hammond says that Disney will double their offerings this year “promoting top contenders from its various brands including 20th Television, FX, Hulu, Nat Geo, Disney+ and ABC.”

At this time, the five live panels will be Hulu’s “A Teacher,” ABC’s “black-ish,” 20th TV’s (presented with NBC) “This Is Us,” Nat Geo’s “Genius: Aretha,” and FX’s “Pose.”

“As for the others, specific details for Disney+’s Rose Bowl Drive-In presentations of  “The Falcon And The Winter Soldier,” “The Mandalorian,” and “WandaVision” are being formulated and will be announced soon,” states Hammond. “Other shows included in the From Your Car FYC events are Hulu’s “Pen15” and “The Handmaid’s Tale;” NatGeo’s “City So Real;” and FX’s “Fargo” and details on talent participation for those will also be forthcoming.”
