Opinion: Disneyland Expansion Proposal #DisneylandForward

Last week Disney sent Disney fans into a tailspin on social media when they announced they were planning on expanding the Disneyland and Disney California Adventure theme parks. The project, DisneylandForward, shows a vague plan on building new lands on current parking lots surrounding the Disneyland and Paradise Pier resorts.

Disney emphasized in the prospectus that this is not a “third park,” but an expansion of Disneyland and Disney California Adventure. Looking at one of the proposed maps, there is an entrance to the future expansion from both parks. They emphasized that this can only be possible if the City of Anaheim is “more flexible” when it comes to zoning and other regulations.

Disney fans were trying to dissect, based on the illustrations, what each of these areas could be or were going to become. However, Disney noted, in the lower half of the drawing, that this was an “artist conceptual rendering for illustrative purposes only.” In other words, do not come to any conclusions what we are planning for this space.

OrangeGrove55 discusses his thoughts on what Disney should do with this area, the hotels, and should they still considering adding a third park in the future.
