Disney’s Contemporary Resort Hotel to undergo five month refurbishment

As the Walt Disney World Resort is gearing up to celebrate its 50th anniversary this October, Disney has been getting the park ready for its celebration. Although some new attractions, like the TRON Lightcycle Run, which was planned to open this year will not be ready until 2022, other attraction will like Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure at the France pavilion in EPCOT.

Late last year, Disney announced the Polynesian Village Resort would not reopen during the phased reopening, but would remained closed until this summer due to an extensive renovation. Leading up to the 50th anniversary, Disney is renovating the Grand Ceremonial House and guests rooms. Many felt that Disney could not give only one of the two original resorts a refresh and they were right.

Now Disney’s Contemporary Resort Hotel will undergo a refurbishment, albeit not as extensive at the Polynesian Village Resort. Beginning this April, it is expected that the resort’s guest rooms will receive a refresh. The work is expected to continue through September of this year.

Back in August 2019, some Disney blogs were reporting that Disney was going to give the Contemporary Resort a makeover themed to Pixar’s “The Incredibles.” At that time Disney was testing new floor and wall treatments, as well as light ash wood room doors and “The Incredibles” themed art work. However, it appears that this idea has not gained enough traction to move forward.

Guests looking to stay at Disney’s Contemporary Resort hotel beginning this April should expect limited availability for the next several months.
