France eases lockdown measures, Disneyland Paris’s World of Disney and Holiday Chalets to open

Responding to the soaring cases of COVID-19 in France, French President Emmanuel Macron shut down most of the country in October. Last month as the country’s cases started to decline, President Macron stated that some restricts would ease up, however he ruled out opening theme parks over the Christmas holidays.

According to France24, France and other parts of Europe will reopen “non-essential” stores on Saturday, December 5, in time for the holiday season. The president also added that the nationwide lockdown could be lifted by December 15 as long as new infections fell to 5,000 per day or less. At that point he is expected to move to curfew hours for the time being. Bars and restaurants will remain closed until 20 January 2021.

Even though Disneyland Paris will remain closed and will not reopen until 13 February 2021, the World of Disney at Disney Village will reopen from December 5 – 23. Guests will be able to shop from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

Disneyland Paris also introduced The Christmas Store – La Boutique de Noël de Éphémère – where guests can click and collect select items, some at a 30% discount.

Guests go on line and select the items they wish to buy, add them to their cart, select a pick up time, make note of their confirmation number, go to the World of Disney story at the assigned pick up time (with the reservation number handy), pay for the items at a dedicated checkout area and leave. At the time of checkout, guests can also request one hour of complimentary parking. Guests must park in the Disney Village Indigo parking garage in order to receive this benefit.

To get guests in the holiday spirit, Disney will also open holiday chalets featuring holiday foods and merchandise.
