Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort pushes back monorail closure as refurbishment begins

In the last few weeks, since the announcement that Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort would undergo an extensive renovation and remain closed until next summer, preparations have begun in earnest.

The check-in area has now been relocated from the Great Ceremonial House to the Pago Pago building and fences have now been erected around the porte cochere. According to WDWNT.com, the Great Ceremonial House is completely closed and will only be used as an emergency exit. They are also reporting that guest pick up and drop for Disney’s Magical Express has also been relocated.

Originally, Disney has stated that monorail service at the Polynesian Village Resort would be suspended in early October, however now Disney has pushed that back to 2 November 2020.

According to the Walt Disney World website, “Due to upcoming refurbishment work at the Great Ceremonial House, monorail service to Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort will be temporarily suspended beginning November 2, 2020.”
