Yesterday, Walt Disney World Annual Passholders who are on the monthly payment plan were given a surprise when they saw four months of payments processed on their credit cards. The charges were particularly surprising considering Disney previously stated that passholders would not be charged until the parks reopen.

Disney acknowledged the issue and said they were working to resolve the issue. “Passholders on the monthly payment program were incorrectly charged today. We are in the process of reversing these charges and apologize for the inconvenience this caused,” stated a Disney spokesperson.

Back in March when the global pandemic closed down Disney Parks worldwide, Walt Disney World said that Annual Passholders on the monthly plan could choose one of two options: 1) payments made between March 14 through April 4 will be refunded and once the parks re-open payments will resume with no extension on their original expiration date or 2) monthly payments will be postponed and upon reopening, passholders will continue to make payments. Additionally, the postponed payments will be collected in the months following the end of the passholder’s currently scheduled payment terms and their current expiration date will be extended the number of days the parks are closed.

Passholders took to social media to air their displeasure at Disney. Messages ranged from how can you charge for three or four months and your parks are still closed to others who stated they were cancelling their passes.

One Twitter user offered some sage advise and reminded people to be kind when speaking to Cast Members about the issue.

Disney has stated that Annual Passholders who were erroneously charged will be automatically refunded. Annual Passholders who are still experiencing issues or do not see a refund in a couple of business days should contact V.I.PASSHOLDER Support at (407) 939-7277.

The Walt Disney World Resort will re-open in stages beginning next week starting with the Magic Kingdom and Disney’s Animal Kingdom on July 11 and EPCOT and Disney’s Hollywood Studios on July 15. For the immediate future, guests and passholders need to make a reservation to visit any of the parks.
