Disney Amends Policy For Annual Passholders During COVID-19 Pandemic

In mid-March, Disney announced the closure of the Walt Disney World Resort in Florida and Disneyland in California. Initially they said the parks would be closed though the end of the month and all active annual passholders would have their expiration dates extended based on the amount of days the resorts will be closed.

This policy applied to both those who paid for their annual passes in full and those who were on the monthly payment plan. Although this worked for those who paid in full, those who are on the monthly payment plan still had to continue to make their payments. As the pandemic continued and the situation continued to get worse Disney made the decision to keep their parks closed worldwide. On Thursday, April 2, Disney announced a change to their initial policy for passholders. Now Walt Disney World and Disneyland annual passholders will have additional options.

For those who paid in full Disney is allowing them to put their pass on pause and have it extended for the number of days the park was closed once they reopen. Disney will automatically adjust their expiration date accordingly. Should these passholders decide against extending their passes, Disney will issue a partial refund and their passes will be terminated.

For those who are paying monthly, Disney has said that on Sunday, April 5, they will automatically stop and waive all monthly payments. They will also retroactively refund all payments made between March 14 and April 5. Once the parks reopen, payments will resume however their annual pass expiration date will NOT be extended. Passes will expire on the pass holder’s original expiration date.

Additionally, those on the monthly payment plan can opt to have their payments postponed on April 5 through the time the park remains closed. Once the park reopens, those passholders can reactive their pass, pay the back payments due and have their pass’s expiration date extended for the number of days the park was closed.

Disney has yet to provide information on how all annual passholders can activate any of these options, but said that information will be coming soon. In the meantime, if passholders had any questions they can call V.I.Passholder Support at (407) 939-7277.
