“A Celebration of Festival of the Lion King” debuts mid-May at Disney’s Animal Kingdom

Yesterday, Jeff Vahle, President, Walt Disney World, announced on his Instagram account that the former “Festival of the Lion King” show will return in mid-May as “A Celebration of Festival of the Lion King.”

“Our cast is back in rehearsals,” said Vahle. Disney’s Animal Kingdom Vice President Sarah Riles, along with Vahle, visited the cast and crew during a rehearsal. “Hearing that wonderful, familiar music put a lump in my throat. Thrilled to have these talented Cast Members back on our stage!”

Given the slight name change, at this time it is unclear if the show will be performed in its original form or a modified version to accommodate physical distancing and other safety protocols due to the ongoing pandemic. It is also expected, as with other shows at Disney, guest capacity will also be limited to allow for social distancing.
