Last month it was reported that Keister Coaster waterslide which featured a fun or scary clown slide (depending on your attitude towards clowns) at Disney’s BoardWalk Resort would be closed for refurbishment.
The slide has been closed and work is currently underway, however it appears the clown face, where guests exit from his mouth into Luna Park Pool, has been removed.
Although it is unclear what the renovated pool area will look like one thing is for sure, this clown does not appear to be coming back. According to a story from Chip & Co., Twitter user @TheMouseandMore posted photos of pieces of the clown being loaded into a truck.
Currently there is a large scrim-covered cube where the clown face was previously. Although the slide is closed the pool is currently open for guests use.
The waterslide is expected to reopen sometime this month, but construction will continue on Luna Park Pool through November.
Robert A.M. Sterns Architects took inspiration for the theming of Disney’s BoardWalk Inn Resort from seaside resorts of Atlantic City and Ocean City, New Jersey. Theming for the Luna Park Pool (and the name for the pool area) and the BoardWalk entertainment district was inspired by the seaside of Coney Island, New York.
