Disneyland Paris: holiday updates & reduced park hours

Fall & Halloween

Last month Disneyland Paris announced their plans for to celebrate fall and Halloween. Beginning next week, the Paris park will offer something very similar to the Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida. Disney’s Halloween Festival will begin on September 26 and run though November 1, 2020.

Disneyland Paris will be decorated with Halloween themed decor throughout the park and characters will make their way though both Disneyland and the Walt Disney Studios Park. In addition, speciality foods will be available at each of the theme parks, the Disney Hotels, and Disney Village.

At the Disneyland Park, Disney characters dressed for Halloween will be available for socially distant selfies. Some characters can be found at the Fantasyland theatre, while others like Maleficent will be at the Cinderella Castle Courtyard.

The Disneyland Paris website says, “From 1 October, Jafar, Cruella de Vil, Captain Hook and other mischievous characters are invading Studio Theater.” It is important to note that “Disney Characters will be escorted through the Parks at different moments and on different days throughout the season. Their presence at any precise time or location can therefore not be guaranteed.”

Christmas Holiday Season

The traditional holiday parades, live stage shows, and specially themed holiday fireworks will not be available this year. However, Disneyland Paris will be decorated, as usual, for the Christmas Season with festive holiday touches throughout Disneyland and The Walt Disney Studios Park.

Starting 7 November 2020 through 10 January 2021, Disney’s Enchanted Christmas will transform the resort and create an atmosphere “where magic gets real, creating the most enchanting of settings where well-wishing Disney Characters wander the sparkling streets of Disneyland Park and a giant tree lights up the sky and imaginations of those who see it – all season long.”

According to Disneyphile.fr, Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, Daisy Duck, Goofy, and even Stitch will don their holiday best for socially distant selfies throughout the park.

During the day, a Disney Christmas Parade will star Disney characters on extravagantly decorated Christmas-themed floats. In addition, Disneyland’s Christmas tree will be lit nightly as night as Disney royal couples join Mickey, Minnie and Santa onstage for dancing and festive songs in this all-new interactive Christmas light show. Town Square at Mickey’s Magical Christmas Lights! will start 15th November 2019 and run through the holiday season.

Over at Disneyland, A Fairy Tale Waltz with Disney Princesses will be held over at the Royal Castle Stage. The Starlit Princess Waltz – a magical Christmas ball thrown by Disney royalty will include Belle, Cinderella and Aurora. The Starlit Princess Waltz begins 15th November 2019 and runs until the 5th January 2020.

“Every day until December 25, at Videopolis in Discoveryland, visitors can enter Santa’s workshop. Santa will be waiting for visitors, surrounded by gifts and toys, ready to take a souvenir photo with them just before he leaves on his annual tour.”

Christmas 2020 at Disneyland Paris/Disney

Minnie, Donald, Pluto and Goofy have planned a very magical Christmas surprise for Mickey at #SURPRISEMICKEY Christmas Special. According to the Disneyland Paris website, “Expect to see performers and plenty of Disney Characters dazzle you with their dance moves. But that’s all we can tell you for now.” The show will run from 15th November 2019 to 5th January 2020.

At the Walt Disney Studios Park, the Animagique Theater will open its doors for “Mickey’s Christmas Big Band.” Mickey, and friends will be featured in a Broadway tap dancing show. In addition, the show will feature classic Christmas carols and Mickey on the drums. The show runs until 5th January 2020.

The holidays are not complete without a traditional European Christmas Market and this year Disney Village will feature festive entertainment, a traditional Christmas market and a seasonal dinner show. Visitors will be able to taste many winter delicacies throughout the entire Disney resort.

For those guests who want to wake up on Christmas morning (or any morning during the holiday season), Disneyland Paris will help with in-room Christmas decorations. This option is only available for Superior Rooms at Disneyland Hotel and Disney’s Newport Bay Club and for Pioneer Tribe Cabins at Disney’s Davy Crockett Ranch. Guests can request a Christmas tree and other festive touches, as well as Disney gifts for young and old alike.

Disneyland Paris will also be ringing in the new year with a New Year’s Eve Party on 31 December 2020. Both parks will be open until after midnight.
